the Naden band’s 46th annual Christmas concert and Salvation Army toy drive
Every year, my family and I look forward to attending the Naden Band’s Annual Christmas Concert at the Royal Theatre and this year’s 46th event was as incredible as ever. It’s become a cherished tradition for us to support the Salvation Army Toy Drive through this concert, knowing that our community’s generosity ensures many children will wake up to gifts on Christmas morning.
The music from the talented Naden Band, combined with the warmth and spirit of everyone in the audience, truly captures the magic of the season.
As someone who served for 28 years and spent many Christmases away from home, I deeply understand the sacrifices made by our service men and women and their families. This year, my thoughts are especially with those who won’t be home for the holidays, including those deployed aboard HMCS Ottawa. Their dedication and sacrifice, both at home and abroad, are humbling, and we owe them and their families immense gratitude for keeping us safe and protecting our freedoms.
The Salvation Army’s efforts to support families in need are another reminder of the power of kindness and community. Their work, from providing gifts for children to delivering Christmas hampers filled with food, makes such a difference for so many who are struggling. If you are able, I encourage you to support this incredible cause. And if you or someone you know needs help, please don’t hesitate to ask—there’s no shame in reaching out during hard times.
This concert is more than just a holiday tradition for us. It’s a moment to reflect on gratitude, community, and the spirit of giving. I’m thankful for the Naden Band, the Royal Theatre, Salvation Army and everyone who makes this event so special. Together, we can ensure the holidays are brighter for many.
